I finally finished. believe it or not, here is my first Hymn.
Feel free to examine and give me advice,
I went away from the conventions just a little bit,
but I think most of them can be justified

Please take into note that it IS my first Hymn,
don't be shy, tell me what you think!
yes, I played your hymn again. There are still 4 chords in there that just don't seem right to me. Other then that I would have to say you did a job well done. I also liked the key change it makes it easier to play. ;) I'm working on my hymn right now and can I just say that you're lucky because yours is done?
ReplyDeleteyeah... I think i know which four your talking about.. :) Changing the key made it easier to compose as well, the problem though is that if I want anyone to sing my hymn, the altos go really low in the key of C, so I raised it a 3rd to make it more singable. But I forgot to do that before I posted my photo, oh well, glad you like it! :)
ReplyDeleteMy advice, start with a chorus, then find a melody for that, then find verses, the better you can use uniform rhythm and word-length in your lyrics, the easier it will be to find a melody that sounds right. but what ever you do, fit the music to the words, not the other way around, so much easier that way
the alto part isn't really that low. :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the advice. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the chorus! I think that is the most impactful part of the song, and definitely the best part. Good job! :)
ReplyDeleteThe chorus is the part that inspired the rest of the song, I invented the chorus and then decided that I needed to turn it into a hymn. I showed it to my professor last monday, he really liked it but gave a few suggestions, I liked some and disliked others, the photo up there will be changed soon. I also changed the wording in a few of the verses so it flows a bit better.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I like the copyright...
ReplyDeleteput a shirt on steven
ReplyDeleteJust because my manliness makes you feel shy, uncomfortable, and useless... :) why don't you try making a hymn? we'll compare and both grow as composers.
ReplyDeletelove yah like a brother,
thanks for liken my hymn. :)
